Notice of Cessation of Affiliate-related functions on pastelchrome (Twitch) at twitch.tv/pastelchrome
with effect from 20 July 2023
Important announcement, please read! If you really don't wish to read, the TL;DR is in the title above (and a short summary at the bottom).
This notice will be sent to all subscribers and announced at least 6 months before it takes effect. Subscribers will receive this notice upon announcement and at 3 months before this takes effect, and 1 month before this takes effect.
First of all, thank you for your continued support of pastelchrome and their content, memes, and skems. However, everything in this announcement and message is true as of the time of writing so please take it seriously.
With effect from 20 July 2023, I will be opting out of the Twitch Affiliate Program. This decision has been made with respect to my current stream commitment and motivations, as well as my priorities for streaming and viewership. Certain ongoing features will be removed upon my departure from the Affiliate Program, primarily Channel Subscriptions & Channel Points. Certain other features such as Bits and other technical stuff will also be slightly affected.

What does this mean for the channel?
- The channel will no longer serve ads
- The channel will no longer be monetized in any form via Twitch, inclusive of Ads, Bits, and Subscriptions
- The channel will no longer have access to transcoding (i.e. viewers will no longer be able to choose which resolution to view the stream at)
- The channel will no longer have access to native channel emotes
- The channel will no longer have channel point rewards
What does this mean for you?
- Your channel subscriptions (if any) will cease to be in effect from 20 July 2023 onwards.
- If you have any active subscriptions, please cancel them or adjust the duration of support so that it does not exceed July 2023. Manage subs here: https://www.twitch.tv/subscriptions
- All subscriber channel badges and any other badges on the channel utilizing a Twitch feature will be unavailable.

While I do not think I will be able to fully express my gratitude for all the support that I've received so far that is made possible only by the Twitch Affiliate Program, I have decided to prioritize certain aspects of my stream above the monetization elements that Twitch Affiliate Program offers. As such, I would like to take this chance to reassure everyone that I am still going to actively (as much as I can) stream, and fully stream as a hobby without having too much stress.
Some may be wondering why I am doing something like this. I can't really explain it, but it is mostly due to my priorities having changed since the past half year has me taking a more active role in my other life, which means less time to dedicate to streaming. While I am still constantly streaming, I have not been upgrading my streams at all, which has been something that has been on my mind for a while. I used to constantly want to upgrade my setup and be actually able to do it, but in the recent months, I have just been wanting to upgrade or to work on something and just not having the time to do it because I rather just stream instead. Also, as I have always firmly believed in the fact that Twitch subscriptions are mostly just to remove ads (since I have really minimal sub benefits), I've decided to do it for everyone instead.

I do predict a few questions that will come out of this, so I wish to pre-emptively address them.
1. I still wish to subscribe / tip / support the stream. How can I do so?
- Aside from the boring old "you are supporting me by being here", I do understand and am super appreciative of it. I will be looking into alternative tipping and recurring tipping sites, with clearer and more defined tiers and benefits for people that go above and beyond and support me and everything I do on the stream. More details will be shared in time.
2. What's going to happen to the [insert value] Channel Points redeem that I am saving for?
- I will be transferring all points and related rewards to a 3rd Party bot program that distributes points in a similar manner (likely StreamElements). This will be set up by 2-3 months before I leave the Program, and there will be a period during which one-way exchange of Channel Points to the new loyalty points will be possible. All existing rewards will also be shifted accordingly.

tl;dr pastelchrome intends to leave the Twitch Affiliate Program in July 2023 so the streams will be adfree. if you have an active subscription, please check that they will not be active past July 2023. channel points will shift to 3rd party loyalty points and you will have an option to exchange your owned points 1:1, and yes i will still be streaming.
